Amazon.com Evaluation
This advanced graphing calculator is packed with even more functions than you might know how to use. The TI-89 lets you perform the expected functions of an advanced calculator--simple math, algebra, calculus, graphs, matrices, and statistical functions. Then again, you can also do cool stuff like produce animations as properly as graph 3-D rotations and plot contours.
The manual that ships with the TI-89 is a killer, presenting over 500 pages of clear, concise definitions, function explanations, examples, drawings, and appendices. It really is divided into well-organized chapters that cover all the key functions of the calculator. Graphing functions incorporate simple function graphing, parametric graphing, polar graphing, sequence graphing, 3-D graphing, and differential-equation graphing. Also, the TI-89 contains symbolic manipulation, constants and measurement units, statistics and information plots, a numeric solver, a text editor, programming capabilities, tables, a split-screen function, variable management, and the ability to link to other calculators or a computer system.
The large, color-coded keys are uncomplicated to read and acquire--a nice touch on such a function-heavy calculator. An improvement over earlier Texas Instruments graphing calculators is the addition of one particular-touch X, Y, and Z variable keys. The significant LCD screen is also adjustable to your atmosphere we had been in a position to view it clearly in a selection of lighting. The TI-89 comes with an attached, hard slide cover that protects it from finding knocked around in a backpack.

Consumer Reviews

The TI-89 is an excellent calculator. It has an absolutley HUGEfeature set, and is so advanced that it can essentially do most math for you. My preferred characteristics are the CAS (computer system algebra method), which can solve a lot of algebraic equations for you, and the factoring function (I dont have to waste time factoring on paper anymore! whoohoo!). My old ti-83+ appears like a slide rule compared to this factor, but the 89 is still rather simple to use. In addition, not only is this calculator excellent for math, its awesome for games! There's a multitude of mathematical programs and games that you can locate for no cost on the web. . . The only downside to this calculator is that the rich feature set can truly be a difficulty. A lot of students that use this calculator rely on it too considerably, and some of them barely realize any of the math that they are supposed to be studying. It is possibly for this reason that it and its brother the TI-92 (distinction amongst the TI-89 and TI-92 is the 92's qwerty keyboard, useless for a calculator in my opinion, and the 89 is smaller) are banned in some colleges, and on some tests, like the ACT's. If you have got the discipline not to rely too considerably on this fine piece of gear (if you are a student), I very recommend this calculator. But be warned, preserve your old calculator about for tests that you can not use your 89 on, and Never rely to considerably on it.

This Calculator completely does it all! It's potential to locate derivatives and antiderivatives (which the TI-85 cannot do) as well as a large number of other calculus functions is invaluable. In calculus, I was normally far ahead of my class due to this calculator! In statistics, its tables and graphing is tremendously quick to use and its statistical summaries are considerably less difficult to access and study than those of the 83 or 85. The fairly print feature makes finding errors and reading the answers much a lot easier. The graphs (3D) are far superior to that of the TI-83 or 85. I would advise this calculator over the 92 for high school students due to the truth that the TI-92 (with its QWERTY keyboard) is not allowed on the SAT I or II tests or AP tests. The TI-89, with quite comparable operation and functions, is allowed on these tests. For far more information...e-mail me.
